Protein Smoothies

Recommended Posts

Be aware that the calories for the Gladiator do not include the added fruits. I have bought the powder from them and the calories and Protein amounts are for 2 scoops of their Protein Powder. I also asked someone working at the store who confirmed this and I asked what the calories were from the added fruit. He showed me a nutrition chart and said that they add 2 ladles or each fruit you ask for. So the Gladiator I had with strawberries and mango was almost 400 calories; much more than I thought! He suggested asking for only one ladle of strawberries and to have them drain off as much of the Syrup as possible. Since I bought the Protein from them (and you can only buy it at their stores) I make it at home with 1/2 c frozen sliced strawberries (Dole). The taste is very good. As far as smoothie places go this is still your best bet; just ask to see the calories for the fruit so you know the true amount you are drinking.

I just want everyone to be informed since Smoothie King advertises those shakes as low calorie and they don't exactly highlight that those calories don't include the added fruits.

I am in the purée stage. Would it be ok to have a Protein smoothie from Tropical Smoothie? I'm conserned about the nutrition facts.

I like lit n fit yogurt with ice and Protein powder. Great smoothie to me. It's really filling so I can't get it all down. I freeze the rest and later put it back in the blender and have some ore

We always need to pay attention to the nutritional values. I had extreme berry smoothie from there it contained 327 cals and 82 carbs. I could have fallen out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
