Of course I thought I would fail.. How many previous diets did I fail? ALL OF THEM. The difference with this "diet" is my rocking little "sleevie wonder" which restricts my old gorging habits.

I was scared even when watching the pounds melt away. Even at two years out I pinch myself thinking, wow the weight is still off. Love my sleeve and have no regrets...except I should done this sooner.

Well so you know, we are on the same page... I have been doing crazy research and Ofcourse being scared is natural ... It would be unnatural if you or we werent scared because it is a major sugery but one that most definitely will save our lives. I went to a vgs seminar and learned that obese people live forty years less than what our life expectancy normally would be and I just lost a friend who died last week diabetic, obese and a smoker. He was only 53 and although I was a little scared about the surgery, well I'm not now. The more research you do and the more informed you are the more confident you will be that this Is the right choice. Look I'm young but I'm diabetic and overweight. I feel like I'm super old and can't do half of what I used to do. It's a struggle just to do the basic things around he house. And before getting to his point in my life, I had a full time job and tons of energy. Obesity is a disease that needs to be treated with urgency and care if not we will face many horrible complications later in life and it's a sad slow death if we do nothing. So be positive, jump on the sleeve bandwagon and stay on this site. People here are highly armed and educated to fight this battle together! Nice meeting you and good luck partner!!

Thank you and thank you.... I'm so glad to hear you say that... And what's even better is that you are kind enough to be here even after your weight loss and you are motivating others. That says a lot about your character. Your awesome.

No not yet. I went to the seminar which was given by the bariatric center where I live, I met the doctors there and I'm going for my first consult as soon as they can get me in, apparently they are packed with people going in because they do all three surgeries. Lap band, R n Y and sleeve... So I'm Hoping to get in soon. The thing is that I have a friend I know personally who got her sleeve and she is doing awesome.... I will share any info I have with you but don't be afraid just keep reading and preparing...

My niece died last year of a massive heart attack on her 40th birthday, and I was just as big or bigger than she was, so that event made the decision for me, you know that there is a chance of death with any surgery but the way I was going there was 100% chance that it was going to be sooner than later! This is the best decision I have ever made for my health, not one ounce of regret!

I love this site. Soo much support and so many of you have had the same feelings and concerns that I have. We are all fearful of failing due to the history of our weight loss attempts. I truly beleive that this is a "for ever" life change and our sleeves will be a tool to help us accomplish this. I am still about two months away from surgery and can't wait! Good luck with your decision and keep reading on this site!

Being scared is a natural response when having surgery...especially and elective surgery. I am 40, my mother was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes when she was about my age, her father had it, her grandmother had it...I wanted to try and stop this thing NOW. Seeing her at 66 with all the problems that she has, scared me more than electing to have this surgery. I researched for over a year before finally making the decision. I was petrified...but the closer I got to completing all the requirements needed for insurance purposes (boy did 6 months fly by)...the more excited I became that I was about to start a whole new chapter in my life. I did it for me mainly and for my husband! I am still young and want to really enjoy life WITHOUT BEING CONSCIENCIOUS ABOUT MY WEIGHT!!!! I am beginning my 6th week post op and have lost 20 lbs....YES....I am still scared I will fail, but for once in my life I WILL NOT let that stand in my way. Stay strong and good luck with your decision. Keep researching...talk with a surgeon...and you will find the answers you seek! B)

I do worry about failing especially since I've failed at every diet in the past. My surgery is in a few days and I'm extremely nervous but this is something that I have to do for me in order to get my weight under control.

I am terrified of being that one that failed. The closer I get to my date the more I fear failure. You are not alone!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
