Triathlon/ 1/2 Marathon

Hi!

I am about to do my first tri, which incidentally is my first race, ever! (I think I'm crazy!)

I'm wondering about energy and what to eat before and during. I think I have a pretty good handle on food in general, I tend to keep to real food, no bars, very little Protein Powder also. But that might not be possible the day of and during.

Any ideas?

My tri is Oct 6/12, 1/2 marathon is 1/20/13

I feel like I am ready for my tri, and well on my way to the 1/2. (running is so much easier after losing this much weight, it's amazing!)

One thing I didn't mention before is PB&J. It's something I consumed during the Ironman 70.3 World Championships and carried with me on the 56 mile portion of the bike ride. I got such a big lift from it that I carried it with me the next weekend when I did the NorCal Half Marathon and posted my PR over the distance.
