Guest deleted_user Posted September 24, 2012 I'm looking for a buddy in the South Bay area. I do not have much support from my family and to be honest, I "haven't had any friends" since March 2011. I would love to share my journey with you and I don't mind being mentored (I'd welcome it actually). I'm excited to support you and to Celebrate your success as well. I'm 25 and reside in Torrance. I was "sleeved" in Tijuana on August 7th (almost 7 weeks post-op) and I am down 17 lbs since then (26 lbs including 2 week pre-op diet and 32 lbs from my highest weight). I'm a Tech Consultant/Web Designer and I go to school in the San Gabriel valley area.
iegal 460 Posted September 24, 2012 There is a whole group of us that will be your buddy and mentors in SoCal. Go to "Groups" above and look for SoCal VSG support group. We get together face to face every other month too. Next meeting is in November. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any specific questions. Happy to be a buddy. pinktink91024 25 Posted September 24, 2012 I tried to enter that group, I too am in SoCal and would love to meet people sharing the same journey as myself. But when I tried to enter it asked for a password. Do you need a password?
Guest deleted_user Posted September 24, 2012 @iegal: Thank you so much for the invitation! I am aware of the SoCal VSG Support group. Driving 65 miles to meet for less than 2 hours every other month is something I don't see myself benefiting much from. I'm sure people are able to find buddies at the meetings and they probably remain in touch but still. I meet with my therapist more than that! I also work most weekends. I would love to meet someone my age who has similar goals and is fairly local. We can shop together, give each other feedback about our progress and most importantly, Celebrate little milestones! Looking for more than just a support group, specifically those for only sleeved patients. I want a buddy; a friend, as pathetic as I may sound. Oh well.
