JackieV 246 Posted September 24, 2012 I've been a lurker on this site since I started thinking about WLS. I am now 90% sure I will be going through with surgery, and 100% sure if I do it will be the sleeve. I am a military dependant and already approved through our MTF. So far I have attended the group meeting and the one on one appointment with the surgeon. Tomorrow I will meet with the Nut, from there I have an mental heath apt and then I can book the date. The nurse is thinking end of Oct to Early Novemeber (sooner depending on mental health) , I feel a little overwhelmed but excited. A little about me, I am 28, almost 29. 5'6ish and 309ish. I have two little boys, aged 3 and 1. 2 TamaraS and ProudGrammy reacted to this
Peggylou 44 Posted September 24, 2012 It's a great journey ! Remember the surgery is just half of the process. Jump in with both feet. I am one week out of surgery. I'm glad I did it no doubt but I am realizing more and more everyday the surgery was the easy part. I myself am learning that food was my security blanket. I hid behind it because of past issues. I have decided that I an going to go to a therapist to help me deal with some of my personal issues! I have list 10 pounds in 9 days! I am off all my meds! It's a very exciting time and I wish you the best of luck!!! 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this

hawkihoops 20 Posted September 24, 2012 It was having my kid that really pushed me to make this choice for all of us. I want to be around to see them grow up and this is my best shot at it. Glad you decided to step out of the shadows and post. Good luck with your journey.
JackieV 246 Posted September 24, 2012 Thank you guys. The last 10% is because I am a chicken and scared of the actual surgery part. I have very little doubts that I will do great after. It's been the constant debate in my head about if something drastic happens, I don't want my boys not to have me. I know logically I will be around a lot longer and have a better quality of life with them with the surgery.
hawkihoops 20 Posted September 24, 2012 Honestly, I feel the same way. I am a catastrophizer. Always thinking the worst will happen. My surgery is tomorrow and I am still scared to death. no pun intended. trying to focus on the future but it is hard. Hopefully your NUT and psych appoints go well and give you some encouragement! JackieV 246 Posted September 24, 2012 Tomorrow? I am super excited for you. You are going to do wonderful. I am also a catastrophizer but really the odds are on our side. If anything else had the same success rates I don't think we would think twice.
