Broke Up W Fiancee. Ugh

Recommended Posts

Well it happened. Broke up with my fiancee after he wouldn't follow through with a few things he promise work on to make this relationship work. It has been a 2 year long distance relationship (only 3 hrs away!) and he has only manage to come and see me twice with innumerable excuses from not having a working car, time, money. I've gone to see him all the time. After talking in March and promises of a change, he still hasn't gotten his bottom overhere, not even when I had VSG surgery in July. I just about had it yesterday and despite him asking for more time, I had reached the point of no return. He is partly blaming the weight loss I've had. I am really sad, but at the same time I look back and think: "I put up with this because??!!". I borrowed money at some point just to see him. Drove tiresome hours just for a date. All I expected was the same, nothing more.

Sad for you but happy that you aren't putting up with some really tiresome behavior!

Hang in there. Do what is best for you and the rest will follow. I have to tell myself that every day.

I'm sorry to see your relationship end but I do think it was for the best. If he wasn't willing to match your efforts now it would be the same even living in the same home! And that's worst! What if you guys had kids? And yet again no matched effort... Then you would really be fed up! You deserve some one who wants to go above as beyond to be with you!! Not expect you to go above and beyond to be with him...

Way to empower yourself! I was quite proud reading this :). Time will heal (cliche) - sounds like you know what you want and need!

Good to read you are not putting up with it anymore. You can't always be the one giving or you will have nothining else left for yourself.

It sounds like the best decision. You need to concentrate on getting healthy and not settle for less than you deserve.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
