Clear Liquids Going Down Well

Recommended Posts

I am just shy of 2 weeks post op. I feel like I can drink more at a time and liquids continue to go down just fine. I'm adding sf Jello and tonight Tomato Soup. Just wondering if that's typical- liquids going in well- not really filling you up? Is this just a sign I'm ready for full liquids?

I haven't ever felt full on Clear Liquids. Cream of potato Soup (the liquid) I felt like I ate an entire meal!

I'm so excited to have Tomato Soup. Technically I'm suppose to wait to see doc I Tuesday but I think she did that because I was dehydrated. I truly feel ready for full liquids. I'm going crazy. I think it's better than caving to all of cravings right? Normally I wouldn't go against the doc but I think this is ok....

I am started blenderized/puréed food Wednesday but I have tried some this weekend (last night & today) bc I haven't had any issues with the all liquid stage. What's 2 days going to do? I would have stopped if I felt any discomfort or anything.

Ya plus I hope she will put me on puréed stage- I'm dying for refried Beans and cheese ( in a blender I guess) and cottage cheese

My doctor has me moving to full liquid 2 days after surgery. I wonder why every doctor does different pre and post op diets?

My doc focuses on liquids because with this surgery dehydration is a very high risk. And wouldn't you know- I was re admitted. So because I don't see her until Tuesday she had just said just stay on clears with Protein shake exception. I'm glad I have her :). But I do thinknil ready. Not all her patients wait as Long as I have but I think she wants me sip sip sipping :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
