Have someone in my life I know had bariatric surgery her daughter let it slip. She's a year out and could answer so many questions for me. She knows I'm struggling with stuff but, has offered no insight. Should I say I know you've been through this or keep pretending I don't know.

Nope, I wouldn't say a word. I have friends that have had surgery and I don't talk to them about it. One specifically because she lied so bad about it and that was an unsolicited lie. I think if she would have wanted you to know she would have told you.

I would guess that she may have some underlying jealousy issues with your surgery? If this person had your best interest in mind, then she would have been supportive to you at this point.

This is what this site is all about. We are all here for each other and there is always someone on this forum who can answer any question(s) you ask. Don't even bother yourself with trying to get advice from that person. Just laugh it off that you know a secret about them that they don't know you know...lol!

This is tough. It just depends on how much you value your friendship. A simple question to ask her to see if she opens up is, "have you ever considered having weight loss surgery?"

Ok I gotta say it. MYOB. If she wanted you to know she would have told you! And if she were a close friend you should have blasted her disrespectful privacy invading child also! Just my opinion .

It wouldn't hurt to ask her in private. and if she doesn't feel comfortable sharing, then that's ok too. She might be dying for you to ask her but doesn't know how to come out and say anything. I'd ask. :)

Personally I wouldn't ask her or mentioned it. Maybe she regrets having it done, maybe has no intentions in letting others know, maybe she is jealous of how you are coming along. Either way I won't ask her for advise. If she had wanted to share her experience or help you out she would've done it.

Does she know you had it done?

She knows I am having a hard time getting in the Protein and says I can only imagine what your going through... She's a pretty good friend she looks great and seems so much happier with herself. and since she is a nurse has been overly helpful with all this blood clot business. I don't want to invade her privacy which is why I haven't said anything. I've known since before my surgery when her daughter said my mom hated the liquid diet before her Lap band watch out. I know a lot of people keep it private that never occurred to me not saying she's doing anything wrong I am dying to ask her advice on this journey. I just don't want to embarrass her so I will probably continue to pretend I don't know but, I feel like I'm lying by not saying I know. Plus I would hate to throw her daughter under the bus.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
