How Can I Tell When My Sleeve Is Full

Recommended Posts

3 weeks out doctor has me on soft foods, what is the feeling im looking for knowing when I ate enough should I just eat 4 ounces and thats it? I went to Panera bread today and got a 1/2 of some kind of chicken salad with fruit in the salad it was good. I ate the chicken (protein first) then I picked at the strawberries and tangerines didnt want to try the pineapple but ate a leaf of lettuce I never felt full but stopped eating anyway. dinner I just ate some refried Beans with greek yogurt mixed in and the scrapings from the mashed potato pot in all around 6 or 7 ounces. I feel a slight lump in my throat and I think I feel full.

It takes a little time to figure out what your 'signal' is. Mine is, I do a tiny burp. I know, thanks to all the wonderful advice on here, NOT to take another bite after that. I've never slimmed or thrown up. Or should I say, I haven't yet and I hope not to. :-)

Bingo, sounds like one bite to much. Happens to me sometimes.

Also, my trigger is my stomach has a little gurgle so I stop.

My signal is I get a hiccup and that's it for me. Just one hiccup is enough to know that's it or I'll over due it. Great signals huh?!

Ditto here for the "lady burps" I find that if I take one bite more after that it puts me over the top and then I feel like foods sits in my throat for a while....

I generally measure my food, either by volume or by sight, but when I'm not able to do that I get a hiccup and I know I'm done.

Believe it or not, i think all your little burpies and hiccups are so cool! Great way to know you're done. Does this happen to everyone? (I'm still pending insurance, so I have no idea)

I sure hope it happens to me. I'm 8 days post op and can't figure out when I'm full as crazy as it sounds. I'm on full liquids. But I've been measuring 2 oz of Soup or whatever it is that I eat.

When you move to soft foods you will feel the fullness. I didn't get a full feeling on liquids either, but as soon as I moved to something that was thicker I finally started feeling full.

I definitely agree that everyone feels full differently. My signal to feeling full are either my noses begins to get runny or I happen to sneeze spontaneously.... Sounds crazy but that's when I put my fork down.

Aww, thanks Roni! I sure hope you get approved soon! The little burpies are kinda funny. They didn't start until last week when I started to eat more. Def didn't happen in the liquid stage.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
