Help! Tell me I am not losing my mind. I have been losing constantly (not as much as I'd like). I am getting compliments from people that never spoke to me before. My skin is glowing, my clothes fit like clothes should and men are noticing me. Intially I enjoyed the compliments, but now they are sort of embarrassing. Two weeks ago, I was excited that I could fit into another new size, now I am back to seeing myself as a 'fattie'. Before the weight loss I was able to blame a lot of things on the weight. Now I can't seem to shake the 'poor me' syndrome. I seem to have gotten into a 'funk' and I can't make any sense of it. Is this something that anyone has encountered or am I just a 'whacko'? :angry

I have been thin and I have been fat. I have felt good about myself on both ends of the spectrum and also have felt yucky about myself too. For me, I realize that my life-long struggle with my weight has A LOT to do with my emotional and mental issues. The band is a tool that helps the Physical aspect of dealing with being MO, but I have found that I am having to deal with my "Issues" surrounding food, my addiction to sugar, and my aversion to exercise. These issues won't be helped by my Band. For example, I thought that I was fat throughout high school, college, and into my early adulthood. I weighed at most 135 and as little as 115. I look back at photos and realize just how screwed up my body image was. There were times that I looked too thin! So, I have to work on the emotional/mental/spiritual stuff too.

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
