Surgery went great, I had to do 2 wks liquid diet pre op, which sucks. But worth it . After my first visit with him it took 6 months to have surgery, because of my insurance . They required a 6 month weight loss first with my primary care dr & a full medical evaluation with specialist .

Going good. A little slow, but slow is better than nothing at all, like before. I was sleeved 9/26/12, I've lost 60 lbs so far. I have 26 lbs to lose to reach my goal, so I'm almost there. All the waiting is worth it, good luck on your journey :)

I started the Kaiser program Oct. 2nd and last class was Dec. 18th. It's a 12 week program. It seemed like it was going to be forever but actually went by fast. I can't wait to go Thursday to see when I get my surgery. So excited!!!!!

Really.... Now I'm really curious. I almost had him do the lap band December 2011...had my surgery date and everything but insurance problems. I'm glad now and see it was a blessing. I went back to Kaiser and learned so much more.

After finishing the Kaiser classes it took me two weeks to get an appointment and 2 weeks for a surgery date, although I decided to postpone for a few months. One of the guys in my class was sleeved 2 weeks after finishing our class. We both have Naik. All 3 of them want you to do a 2 week liquid diet to lose 10 pounds of belly fat but I hear Irani is the most lenient

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
