Yup, cravings can be pretty bad the first couple weeks, be strong, it gets a lot easier very soon.

My craving was Five Guys burgers. Now they're building one in my town, and it doesn't even bother me.

Don't do it ladies....lol.....it is so not worth it! Stay strong....the sugar might kick you out of ketosis and slow your weight loss. How far post op are you? How much weight have you loss so far?

I have been fortunate and have not had any cravings since surgery almost 3 months ago. If you can make it 3 weeks, that usually gives you enough time to solidify a new habit. It is kind of strange for myself. I used to be a big apple fritter and old fashion donut eater before surgery and the I lost all cravings after surgery. I think the preop diet helped a bit to get the sugar and fat cravings out of the system. I eat very basic now and have lost about 90 lbs. keep holding on a bit longer despite the cravings. It is totally life changing to not have food controlling your life any longer.

I hope to not add back in processed sugars. I haven't missed them since preop shakes started 8/21 (surgery 9/4).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
