I had my surgery on August 13th (I think) I am eating and drinking fine but I developed reflux and have to take medicine before I eat. I still have a tough time with some foods but for the most part I am eating what I want just very small portions - make sure you are chewing your food into tiny bits and be sure you are taking good Vitamin supplements. I also still use the Bariatrics Advantage shake for Breakfast on most days to ensure I am getting my Protein. Can't ever seem to eat enough to get it all in. The shakes don't hurt my stomach.

I think all of us sleevers went thru a crappy period or two! Im 9 months out now. I promise you both...as soon as your new stomachs catch up' date=' your crappy feelings will pass and you will be able to eat & drink just fine. Hang in there![/quote']

Yeah what she said!!! I was right where you are at one month, today 9 months out breakfast was 3/4 cup kashi crunch with 5oz Greek yougart I shared a cheese stick and granola bar with my 2yr old for snack time a 30 gram Protein shake about an hour ago ,some mussels with parsley and lemon steaming right now for lunch, some chicken breast fillets marinating for dinner later, oh yeah a nice papaya I prepped yesterday for pm snack. I will probably eat 1000-1300 calories and close to 150 grams of Protein today. So there's hope my dear hang in there!!! I might note ,getting active Was the turning point for my energy level and allows me to eat , and not feel guilty.

I would suggest hydration G2 or pedialyte. Also I did better with room temp and warm drinks. I felt like every time I drank something cold everything would just tighten up on me. I also felt like I had a lump in my chest/deep throat area for a while till about the 6-8 weeks mark.

This happened to me, lasted 4-5 months, and still does if I drink cold in the am ,I am an herbal tea expert now!

I'm approaching the 3 week mark and I found out if I don't eat or drink enough through the day I get light headed or feel dizzy. I still have pain eating certain foods or drinking milk, but I will mix and match a little, like putting a little milk in my cream of wheat in the morning, or drink my Water with a Protein mix.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
