17 Days Post Op How Much Did Everyone Eat

Recommended Posts

I was cleared to eat soft foods all Protein. As light as I can on carbs and no sugar. I was excited but now not so much. I ate canned chicken and a scramble egg today but its hard it takes forever and my stomach makes so much noise. It feels like its stuck sometimes. I'm not gassy just a little uncomfortable for like a half hour. Does anyone have any suggestions or food they are eating that goes down easier?

YEA!!! I was moved to soft stage today as well :) excited and scary. Ok, here is my experience for the day.

I was able to eat 6oz apple sauce without problem ( Gerber baby food)

lunch I ate 2oz of canned tuna and 1/2 cup of Soup cream but it was mistake. I need to stop on 1/4 cup because I feel my soup in my throat

dinner just 2oz of canned tuna. - was more then enough for me.

I like refried Beans with some greek yogurt, split pea Soup and I took fresh spinach and cooked it with onion, garlic and chicken broth drained it and put in food processor with some ricotta cheese and a few eggs and salt and pepper to taste. Bake in a pan sprayed with pam and added mozzarella cheese on top last 15 min. Yum. I then let it set and cut into small portions that fit in those little snack baggies and freeze. You can do the same with cauliflower and put spaghetti or marinara sauce over it. Check out eggface.com. There are lots of recipes. Hope that helps.

I would try adding FF or LF mayo to the canned chicken and/or tuna as it will keep it moist and should sit easier and go down easier. I was moved to soft Proteins on Wednesday as well and both of those have worked great. I was also told i could have ground turkey and to mix it with a little marinara and ricotta cheese or melt some cheese over it. I am finding i can eat about 3oz a meal, although tonight for dinner I had 2 scrambled eggs with a little FF cheese melted on top -- soooo good!

Have you tried baked fish? I did very well with that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
