I am terrified! I have to have a leak test done on Monday! I am already nauseous and not holding things down very well. I am 3 weeks out! Yikes!!!

Wow why at 3 weeks? Does he think thereby be a liquid. It may be easier farther away from surgery I had such a hard time because it was the first thing I swallowed at surgery I didn't know what would happen. Just a very weird feeling,

My surgeon tested for a leak before I ever came out of surgery, but I have been having some issues with nausea and diarrhea that he is just checking to be safe. I go in on Monday morning

I had no problems at all. Needed to take a few small sips and the xray machine moved around me. Then I wanted to see what was going on so doc had me take a few more sips. The barium wasn't any worse than some of the Protein Drinks i've tried. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. It was so cool to watch my sleeve in action!

I drank the barium for my pre-op test last Friday. I have had WICKED gas since then. I don't know if it was the fizzies they made me drink or the barium. My "stuff" is still coming out a lighter color.... I can't imagine having to do that AFter the sleeve!!!!!! chewbacca in the house... wawwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It might be easier now that you're a few weeks out and the swelling is probably decreased quite a bit. I hope it goes well!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
