thanx all for your responses and encouragement.

i was hesitant at first to go through with surgery as there arent alot of experiences online with resleeving, however after months of research and asking dr aceves questions daily, i made up my mind to finally do it.

as for my previous sleeve, the first surgeon did not cut enough out to guarantee long term restriction, its his technique i guess. as for dilation, it happens frequently in some parts of the stomach as it did happen to me.

as for foods that can and might stretch the sleeve, im not sure. i am a vegetarian, the hard and dense food i eat come from tofu and legumes. i dont eat meat which is even harder food, but my stomach dilated and stretched never the less.

the medical system where i come from is very complicated. to consider asking for a free revision or a refund is totally out of the question, it just doesnt happen.

dr aceves is a very kind man, he made sure im happy and comfortable with the care im having. all of his staff, dr campos, karla, yolanda, nina, the nurses the janitors everyone theyre very kind nice and always have a smile on their faces.

im recouperating at the lucerna for the next few days, im feeling great.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing (and thanks to OTR for pointing out the thread as well!) -- glad to hear you are doing well after your extra surgery too. I bet it works this time!

(I think my doctor here in Europe also did a rather large sleeve, but in my case that has been okay.)

Hey aceves_soon would love an update! And I just want you to know you are NOT the first person I've heard of being re-sleeved. One lady on Facebook who I talk to went to Mexico to get re-sleeved as well and also on the ObesityHelp forum there was a lady who went to Aceves for a re-sleeve too after she found out her original sleeve surgeon left her with too much fundus and her sleeve was too big.

im doing great and my new sleeve is lovely. since ive been through with this once before, i am a professional at handling it :-)

That is really a decent amount of loss. It causes us to ponder if we could end up in the same situation and whether insurance would consider a re sleeve.

I always have assumed at some point the sleeve is going to stop being a tool to help us loose weight and we will be responsible for developing the habits long term. I've been sleeved at 29, which really leaves me with a lot of years to live with this. After decades there's no way my stomach is going to be as restricted as it is now. That's why I am focusing on learning to count calories, exercise, and eat normally.

It's really hard to know what to expect because there are few long-term sleevers on the forum. Everyone I know that is many years out had the RNY back then.

At nearly two years out, I have had the same amount of restriction for at least a year now. I haven't seen it change significantly for a long time -- and I had very little swelling at all post-op, so I could eat a lot (relatively speaking) from very early on. I don't doubt I will get a bit more wiggle room over time, but I am going to go out on a limb here and say there is NO WAY I will ever be able to eat in quantity again. At least not at one go. Maybe if I ate every hour or two I could fit in a bunch of calories, but as it is, I eat pretty well and not overly low-cal (relative to the average sleever anyhow, about 1500-2000 cals per day) and maintain just fine -- and don't feel the need to eat more or less than that for the time being. Touch wood! :D

Thanks for the comments, Swizzly! Hopefully I am the same way and keep the restriction. I am learning to order smaller portions and not even prepare or dish out nearly as much as I used to. Thanksgiving went very smoothly (thank God!). I have figured out that there are ways we can "trick" our bodies into gaining weight like drinking high calorie drinks (I had a 290 calorie Starbucks as a treat over the holiday) and eating things that go down easily like chips & dip, ice cream, etc...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
