Newbie Pre-Op Here!

Recommended Posts

Hi, Im Tara, a 25yr old married mom of two boys (6&3). I have just scheduled my seminar, consult and cardiologist appointments for Wed. I am really excited and nervous. Any clue as to what I can expect on these visits? I am 5'5" and weigh about 275 so my BMI is around 46ish. I already have a pre-approval from my insurance (bcbs of mn) but I am terrified of something going wrong and the surgeon saying I shouldn't have the sleeve done. I don't have any serious comorbidities other than possible sleep apnea, body aches, depression and borderline cholesterol and borderline diabetes. I just am so tired of being the way I am and have tried so many times to get healthy on my own but have little success. I'm so anxious and worried and excited all at the same time! Any words of wisdom or general tips on how to remain sane during the pre-op process?! :)

Oh and I'm going through Dr. Joyce at BMI Surgery (Silvercross Hospital) in New Lenox, IL. Anybody else??

Thanks everyone!

I'm looking forward to being a furure Loser!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
