I had a bad dream about meatballs. They were 5-6 of us making meatballs and my job was to shred the cheeses for everyone. Everyone grabbed the cheese for their meatball and left me none for my meatballs. I got so upset threw everything down and stormed off!!!! Than I woke up. Funny thing is I am Italian and do not like meatballs. Has anyone had weird food dreams?

OMG yes!!! Pre-op i was having crazy, full on crazy food dreams. I don't eat red meat and I woke up after dreaming of steak and craved a bite. Thank goodness the cravings are short lived. And the dreams went away postop after full liquids.

Enjoy dreaming!

lol...I've not had my surgery yet to have the dreams, but I can relate... being Italian, we had neckbones with our gravy (probably cuz it was cheaper)... so wasn't big on meatballs, but my fiance makes some awesome meatballs!!! ... and there are some in the freezer calling my name!!! I'm on the liquid diet right now, so that is where they will stay...for now :)

I laughed reading your dream! I have dreams like this frequently. Weird food related dreams which leave me feeling annoyed when I wake up. So I really appreciated your dream!

I dreamt I couldn't get into McDonald's because I couldn't find the door, my family were inside and I was wandering around and around looking for the way in. Weird thing here is I can't stand McDonald's and haven't eaten there in years!

I am sure these dreams are part of our psyche trying to make sense of the drastic changes we have made.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
