I've been told I'm a cheap date lol

Has anyone tried drinking with the sleeve? I hear alcohol poisoning is a big concern??

I was told not to drink for the first 6 months. Husband and I are going on a cruise next month so I will probally have a drink on my vacation.

Yes, alcohol is processed quicker so we're a whole big group of cheap dates now. I have read studies that alcohol addiction is a big risk for post-op wls patients. I have tried a little bit and it gets my tipsy really fast, but only lasts a short time, and makes me feel sick/dehydrated after. I really don't enjoy it at all anymore, and I used to drink a glass of wine or two a night. I'm actually glad for the change =p

When I drank alcohol for the first time, drinking some yummy Hurricanes, I cycled in and out of feeling tipsy and feeling sober. Real quick, it was odd

Yes, I had the same reaction as Wolfgirl. I went to my pre-op favorite spot Chilis and had maybe 2-3 oz of a margarita. I got tipsy really fast, then sobered up after a while. After that it felt like I never had anything to drink at all.

Im 11 months out. Alcohol hits me a lot quicker so i tend to have to take it slow. and yes we are all cheap dates after having the sleeve.

Same as wolf girl here. I enjoy an occasional wine but make sure I increase my Water intake to compensate. I do not believe I could drive after one. It does hit pretty fast.

I've been on a few dates since getting sleeved. Ive noticed that my confidence has gone up drastically. Im a super cheap date as well - thankfully my dates understood. Im pretty open with the surgery and told them and they had no issues, just interested in the experience. My most recent date and I are going out again shortly.

As far as alcohol goes, Im only 3 months out, but I will admit that I have had a few. I honestly dont feel a difference. I was able to drink 2 Jack and Cokes (asked the bartender to flat the soda for me) and did not get super drunk or tipsy at all - just a nice mellow buzz. I will probably wait until after 6 months to test the waters further with alcohol.

So far, so good?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
