Cannot take the Protein Shots, even with flavor added. Now from reading this site, i see they aren't good anyway. I cannot stomach the Isopure fruit flavors either. before surfery I tried the chocolate Isopure and it was manageable. The question is though, the first five days is suppoaed to be clear. What will i damage if i drink the chocolate now?

Your first week don't worry so much about Protein Drinks. Just concentrate on getting in all your Clear Liquids like your Doc ordered. You don't want to dehydrate and end up back in the hospital. Once you get to the full liquid stage and are able to drink a little larger amounts you can work on getting the Protein in slowly.

You probably won't damage anything but trust me you won't be able to drink a full liquid yet. Three days ago when I went to full liquids I could hardly get in 2 oz then I was full. Don't rush yourself. Drink your clear for the amount of time required then progress. You tummy will thank you

I was on full liquids once I left the hospital, but honestly I couldn't handle anything. The first week I focused on hitting my liquid mins and getting in what Protein I could. If you are really worried you could try beneprotein (you have to order it) or Bariatric Advantage has a Protein elixir (like a syrup) that you can either take straight or mix into your Water. The amount of protein isn't high, about 10 grams per serving, but it is better than nothing!

As for being allowed to try the chocolate ones, I highly suggest just calling your surgeons office and asking. They won't mind :)

Funny how different the diets are from surgeon to surgeon. i am to be on clear liquids for 7 days, with only 20 g of Protein intake per day required (1/2 bottle of isopure)

If you aren't having trouble getting your minimum liquids in then I say go ahead with the chocolate Protein. Most diets include these on the clear phase. But, as was stated earlier, this is only if you are already meeting your liquid requirements. Hydration is priority 1 protein is second.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
