Website Tooo Darn Slooooowwww!

Recommended Posts

Why does this website take so darn long to upload, every single page takes minutes, and minutes? How does it get fixed? And, when I'm typing, the page will be doing something and won't let me type. It's very frustrating and aggravating. Please, administration...fix the problem!

My daughter is a webmaster. I know how challenging it can be. These ads actually are pretty good. The ads pay the bills.

I have Road Runner Lightning from Bright House in Florida. Loads pretty fast for me but dial-ups would have a hard time, I'm sure.

I think the bare-belly flash ad on the right slows the page down the most but it probably brings good money in.

I had the same problem using the browser Internet Explorer. Read about some others on here that didn't have the problem they were using other browsers.... Foxfire and/or Chrome.

I downloaded Foxfire (it's free) and an Add-on they have called "ad-block Plus" and use that now for this site and man is it FAST!

Here is the link for Foxfire:

http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/

You will have to determine if you want it for a PC or a phone then download the appropriate software. But it is a browser that has been around for decades and totally safe.

Don't forget to download the "Ad-block Plus" (it blocks the ads).

The Chrome browser by google -- you can go to there site and get it, although I have no experience with it, I 'm sure it is fine.

Honestly, I have been using firefox with adblock on it for so long, I didn't even know this site had ads.

It loads for me immediately and I never have to wait for anything. That is really interesting that it's so opposite for you. I didn't even know that could happen!

I added memory to my computer but I still have problems with internet explorer saying things about memory. I did have Chrome on here for a few days, that someone else downloaded when working on my Norton....and I uninstalled it because there are privacy issues with Google that I didn't want to deal with...and I think it made my computer run slower. I looked up Mozilla because I used to have that and never used it...and people say it makes their computers run slower....which is a problem I do not want.

I will never click on any of the ads, no matter what...I don't have money for that stuff, and I find them terribly annoying. They should target people who have money to spend...not me...but I know that's probably not going to happen. I need to find a way to deal with this problem that won't slow the rest of my computer down. I have basic cable internet.

I would love if the administrators would FIX the problem...because i is a big problem....and if they would stop ignoring me, because this is not the first time I brought this issue up.

I've been asking about this since I began with the site...to no avail...please see what you can do...because I like this site and don't want to leave, but if a remedy does not come soon, I'm going elsewhere.

Let's see if it's a browser issue. Can you try with Chrome, Firefox or Safari please for testing purposes?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
