Favorite Liquid Meal???

I love EAS carb advantage available at Walmart for $4.97 for four drinks. They look like little beer cans. I buy the chocolate fudge, the vanilla and the strawberry cream. All are good and very portable for the car, etc. I know they are expensive, but so are chocolate and chips which I used to buy. Health and happiness. Fran

Vegge..... A good canned drink will usually run about $2/can because they have 20-35 grams of Protein per can. Don't cheat yourself on protein!! Don't judge a drink on taste or price or how much you hear them advertised. A good bariatric drink is based on protein content, and that's what your body needs from now on. The powdered Proteins used to make your own drinks are much less expensive and you can 'doctor them up' to have more variety. Again, they are not all created equal and you need to be sure you are using one that is made for bariatric patients, not body builders (i.e. low carbs, artifical sweetener is what we have to have).

I too found the Unjury unflavored the best for me. I used it with DaVinci's SF Syrup, in all kinds of flavors!! My favorite since you ask favorites was Caramel...still is!!!

I also used SF, FF pudding (about a TBSP) in with the milk and unjury Protein Powder, to flavor shakes. I could vary what taste I had with less expense than all the different shakes, that sometimes went to waste due to the after taste.

The unflavored powder I still use now, even tho I can eat regular food again. If I am low on Protein, I add some of the unflavored to anything...as long as it is not cooked the protein is there, I have used it added to Salad Dressing, spaghetti sauce (after it is cooked before I use it on my plate), all kinds of things. Same with all the SF syrup I bought, I use it in SF hot chocolate, or hot tea or coffee. It is handy to use, does not take up much space to store...and the company delivers it FAST!!!

It seems very difficult to stick with the required liquids, full liquids, then mushies, but it will pass soon, and you will be well healed, it is so important to allow your body to recover! Soon it will be a distant memory, and you will be advising other newbies!!!

Good Luck!!

Kat

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
