kbaith25 38 Posted September 20, 2012 I'm fairly young to and could probably do the same thing but I am tired of the yo yo and I know I would yo yo the rest of my life . Your pcp is not living your life , I guess I am alittle jaded bc I am a nurse and have worked with too many idiotic doctors , but if my pcp told me she didnt think I should I wouldn't really care , I think you should do what you feel is right , maybe see a different dr ? bethxxx 304 Posted September 20, 2012 I'm only 20 but I have been trying and failing to lose weight for 6 years. I know I need the surgery and I'm sure you know deep down if you really need it or not. If you decide you really need it then you should go to another surgeon who is going to be supportive and who you can talk to easily.
AmandaRaeLeo 2,146 Posted September 20, 2012 Tough call. Surgery is a big deal but having it young should mean better results and speedier recovery. Better chance to lick the comorbidities... My doc is super supportive but insurance excludes it. I'm going to Mexico to do mine. Amanda Rae
kbaith25 38 Posted September 20, 2012 You can by pass your pcp and talk directly to the surgeon maybe ? I mean of you don't qualify they won't do it so obviously if you qualify you are justified in thinking you need it . I never saw my pcp about it I just got my medical records and made an appointment with the bariatric center and I barely qualify BMI 36 but I have high bp and diabetes too , diabetes is one of the main reasons I am doing this , looking good again is a perk too

Jimbo_D 28 Posted September 20, 2012 How long with your PCP? This is my first time seeing him
AmandaRaeLeo 2,146 Posted September 20, 2012 This is my first time seeing him If he hasn't been with you for a long time then shopping around may be a good idea. Your support system should include your PCP. But don't discount their advice simply because you don't like what you're hearing... Just my 2 cents. Keep the change!
