LOL! How about this? I am 4 weeks post-op, about 40 pounds down total. I'm a 51 year old woman. I was with my 28 son today doing chores. Both a costco and BJ's men hit on me!! At BJ's the manager even gave me a giftcard. WTF? It was nice, but there was an extremely obese woman sitting at the table next to us and he ignored her. So wrong!! I just laughed nicely and said 'thanks, I'll give to my son'. And I did. The woman and I just smiled at each other. :-)

But, my son and I had a great laugh over me 'debuting' my new body!! Of course...the bra comes off and down go the girls....Cinderalla is back home.

I am 8 weeks post-op and down 50 pounds....10 of that was from my pre-op diet. I went to the endocrinologist today for a follow up, the last appointment I had was a little rough. My husband and I have not been able to get pregnant and the doctor had told me I would be doing a disservice to myself and future family if I didn't get my weight under control. I was borderline EVERYTHING. Today's appointment went so much better!!! He measured my stomach and I've lost 7 1/2 inches, I am also no longer borderline anything anymore! He fully expects us to be able to have a family once I have lost my excess weight and have been able to maintain at least 6 months.

It feels good to get positive news for once!!! I love my new life!

I am a 37 year old man, 5' 6" and started this journey at 373 pounds. I was sleeved on June 5 this year (15 weeks ago). Since surgery, I have had practically zero complications and I just ate a good tasting bowl of spicy chili for dinner!

Here are some of my positive experiences.

I have lost a total of 120 pounds so far

My non-op wife has been so supportive and joined me with new menu restrictions and exercise and she has lost 59 pounds (she only has 45 more to reach her personal goal)

I can tie my shoes without holding my breath

I can use a public restroom that is not meant for handicapped people

I can sit in a booth at restaurants

I can walk into almost any store I want and buy clothes off the rack (although right now I only shop thrift stores because things only fit me for a few weeks)

My family's grocery bill has dropped about $75 a month even buying healthy food since I don't eat much anymore

I can enjoy running and playing with my 4 year old

My 14yr old son is a cross country runner, last month, I joined him in running a 5k, i finished at 49:20 and he told me that he was proud of me

My 12 year old daughter and 14yr old son can both hug me and grasp their own hands behind my back for the first time in their lives.

I have learned that healthy food doesn't have to suck

I can wash all 2000 parts in the shower without the loofa

And of course skinny sex, is better than the unskinny bop.

I hope my list gave you the encouragement that you needed today. :)

I can honestly say that my imagination was far worse than any pain or discomfort I had. I had completely made myself a nervous wreck and it was honestly easy. The week after surgery was uncomfortable at times, but for a lifetime of being healthy, I'd do it again in a heart beat.

I'm sorry to hear that you chickened out. But, if you weren't ready, then you weren't ready. There IS a risk of something going wrong. But, there is a bigger risk of things going wrong if you stay obese.

Gentle hugs. You'll know when it's right. Just rememeber, you probably won't ever be 100% sure. As my surgeon says: its ok to be scared. This IS a big deal.
