Teddy bear 42 Posted September 19, 2012 I'm 3 months post op. and I didn't exercise or anything, cause I didn't have any time... but the weight just kept going down and was so happy....I have 2 girls who are a handful.... so a week go school started and I have a few hours to myself in the early morning, so I thought why not boost my weight decrease and exercise every morning... so I started 2 days ago....walked or should I say marched. for an hour.... and today I get on the scale and I gained half a pound!!!! is this for real???? Sitting around like a bum all day makes me lost about 50 pounds and when I start doing the right thing and exercising, I start gaining!!!! WTF?????
MoreganK 164 Posted September 19, 2012 Since its only a half a pound, I wouldn't worry. That could just be a little Water retention, and if it is "weight" gain its more than likely not "fat" gain, but muscle. If you're building muscle thats good, it means you'll start burning more fat. I'm sure you've heard before that saying that muscle weighs more than fat. Don't freak out too much!!
Lissa 2,631 Posted September 19, 2012 Exercise can stall your loss, or even make you gain. You need to take your measurements now and watch your body reshape itself from your exercise. When I got dead serious about exercise, my weight loss slowed to a crawl, BUT I started losing sizes and reshaping myself. I'd rather be at goal and fit than at goal and flabby. Besides, I can see the changes happening in my body daily. This journey really is NOT about the pounds. It's about getting healthier...and the weight loss will happen, but you'll know that you are protecting your heart muscle and you'll feel and see the results in how you look. 1 MoreganK reacted to this
