Crying This Morning

Recommended Posts

Happy tears! I had my surgery last Thursday at 1 pm. My morning blood sugars had been running about 179 to 200. I was taking 1000 mg of metformin and victoza at night and another 1000 of metformin in the morning at Breakfast. Today my Wake up BS was 119! Not perfect no! But that is on none.. Zero ... Nada .. Not a drop of metformin or victoza! Not to mention I just weighed myself and I'm "legally" down 5.3 pounds of real weight ( Pre-surgery) after surgery I came home with an extra 7 pounds of Fluid weight which is gone as well. I started this journey because I was diagnosed with Barrett's esaphogus and diabetic have sleep apnea and depression . I lost my mom when she was only 62 (I am 51) truth be told I was scared. I am re married to the guy who was my first kiss when I was 15. (2.5 years) he is an amazing man. Very loving and giving honest but most of all knows how to handle my stubborn as*.

Goodness I'm rambling here sorry.... Long story short he gave me reason to believe I deserved a longer healthier life. Today! TODAY because of one lil blood stick I see it is really possible.

I think so many of us here come into having this procedure done thinking its the cure all . I just realized its mearly a tool to give me the emotional strength to take the steps to learn how to eat better and realize I deserve to live a happy and healthy life. I know my weight issues stem from a lot of different reasons. Health ... Check .. Family history ... Check... More than anything in my case it is emotional. I am going to see my endocrinologist today and get a referral to a therapist. I think it is important that I personally cover all my bases so I continue to move in the right direction! Today I am signing up for the 5 k turkey trot! Last year I walked it this year I may just trot my butt across the finish line! Thank you all for reading!! And thank you more for your support! Have a really good day! My goal today is to get down 64 oz of fluid! At least 20 oz of Protein. (shiver) and to go for a nice walk. What's your goal?

Those are awesome numbers! I also talk 2000 mg of metformin daily plus victoza plus other things. I'm getting the sleeve for those kind of results. Thanks for sharing.

That is fantastic news! One of my reasons for having surgery was because my Dad and all of his living siblings have adult onset diabetes. I didn't want that family "tradition" to carry on to the next generation.

Take every little victory and pat yourself on the back because, for me, this is such a mental journey as well and we need those pats on the back!

My goal is to not eat Peanut Butter today, ha! :) Oh, and thank you for reminding me about the Turkey Trot, I'm going to check that out!

That is awesome news on your blood sugar!

Mine was the same way...around 200 all the time pre-surgery. I have not taken any medications since my surgery June 19, 2012! My blood sugar is around 90 to 110 all the time.

VGS was life saving and changing!

I lost my mother when she was 62 (I was 23 yrs old, this was 25 yrs ago). This is still difficult for me. I miss her just as much today. But I tell myself that she would want me to live a long and healthy life. So hang in there. Grief is very hard and must be taken one day at a time.

Good luck to you!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
