I have heard Nioxin products help. As well as Biotin and zinc supplements.

As much Protein as I know I was getting in....I still lost my hair beginning at 3 mo's post-op till about 6 mo's. My Hair loss was mostly/mainly in the front of my hairline...ugh....very noticable! Thank goodness headbands are in fashion!

Is it me or is this really about a lack of Protein? Maybe for some vsger's? From some hair loss comments i've read on other threads, most people get in their protein and still lose their hair! When i asked my NUT about hair loss, she gave me the impression that hair loss is a stage that everyone will go through no matter what.

Hi, i was just wondering if you take zinc aside from the Vitamins. I take 1 Centrum and it contains 15mg of zinc plus1-womens one a day and it has 7.8mg.

My haridresser actually mentioned that it is impacted somewhat by the change in diet, and your body refocusing on handling "vital" functions....but said it happens to everyone after surgery. It is supposedly (in her experience) a side effect of the anesthesia.

Which, thinking back, makes sense...I had some minor Hair loss after a previous surgery as well.

I too have been losing quite a bit of hair, along with the pounds. I'm just now at 6 months, and have noticed it slowing down. 5000 mcg of Biotin plus mutlivitamins have helped...but I might add zinc as others have mentioned.

I was also sleeved 7/17 and started losing hair after maybe 5 or 6 weeks. Still losing it, despite taking Biotin and using Nioxin. Luckily I have thick hair and lots of it, but at this rate, I'm bound to run out of hair at some point! As much as it sucks, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one where the hairloss started that early - seems like everyone else's didn't start until 3-4 months post-op.

I was sleeved 7-2 and have noticed my hair is not thick like it used to be. I have not noticed it coming out, so it must be thinning when i am not watching. LOL. I am not stressing about it too much because every post on this topic says things will return to normal after a while.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
