Considering Spivak, but live near San Antonio

Recommended Posts

I'm considering Dr. Spivak for my lapband surgeon. But considering that I'm 3 hours from Houston, I forsee a problem with fill/unfills. If you have already had surgery with Dr. Spivak and are in the same predicament, please share with me what you're doing to meet follow-up care requirements with Dr. Spivak.

If you live in San Antonio I can recommend a Great surgeron there.

I personally have not used him yet. But I have researched him and spoken to him on the phone a few times personally , I am also in contact with him via email. . Spoken to some of his patients. He takes great care in personal contact with his patients.

If your private pay his price is resonable from what I see from others. So Dont want to push where its not wanted but i'll be happy to give you his name if your wanting to stay in San Antonio .

Colton,

Who is the surgeon, which bariatric group is he/she assigned to, how many lapbands has the surgeon implanted, and what is the price for a self-pay patient?

Colton,

Who is the surgeon, which bariatric group is he/she assigned to, how many lapbands has the surgeon implanted, and what is the price for a self-pay patient?

Here is his info . Its Dr Jorge Rincon.

http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+profile+Jorge+L+Rincon+MD+FACS+lpq.html

The price for self pay is $12,000 which includes a year of aftercare.

Hope that helps

Mindy

Thanks, Mindy. I've already done some preliminary research on Dr. Rincon. If I'm not mistaken, he recently left the Wish Center for private practice. Other than that, I don't know much about him. Why do you think he's so great?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
