Hi guys - as a psychologist I just want to add that not all anti- depressants cause weight gain and if you are taking one that does just talk to your MD about getting onto a different med. anti depressants are really important and too often I hear people going off their meds due to weight gain rather than trying another type which can really compromise their wellbeing. Not saying you would go off them but it's something I hear quite frequently :(

Ok so i have a weird question...from losing weight you end up with jiggly skin. My stomach is where i had most of my weight but i cant tell how much fat i have left to lose or if some of it can be removed if i get plastic surgery etc. Im sick of the loose skin but it doesnt hang down a ton so im dealing but when i lay down i have almost a flat stomach and i def feel my ribs.

In that case how do i know how much is skina and how much is fat lol i havent lost anything in about three months and im counting cals and started working out. My goal is 165 and i feel like ten lbs of me is my tummy lol

I guess id have to make a consult to find out but i wanted to be closer at like 175 before i sought that out. Now im working on getting into law school so id need to do any sort of plastics next summer the latest.

I am also a 12 or 14 in bottoms it depends how my stomach area fits into pants..dresses u can hide.

I hope im not the only one dealing with this haha

The best I can say is Set up a consultation with a plastic surgeon you can get info tips and find out. Some are free to see some cost 100$ to see. I'm having about 10lbs of skin removed in September. I wear a size 12/14 now at 214 , but I'm 5"6. After it I might be a 10/12 but a very comfortable 10/12 not snug.

Will they see you even if your not sure your even gonna do it. I guess i would feel like i was wasting their time. Doesnt hurt though i guess. When i see my surgeon next month for my year i might see if they have any recommendations etc.

I hope yours goes great! I also want my boobs done. Id need to somehow finance this with a medical loan or something

No they don't mind I seen over 6 before I picked the one for my work. A few were free a few cost me a consultation fee. I say start looking now it will take time to pick one you like. Care credit Does financing.< /p>

Ok so this past week i have been good (still ate a few sugary things but oh well) and i counted carbs and worked out....FINALLY broke my three month stall...i weighed in at 193.0 on the button this morning. I have been pretty much 195.9 to 196.9 the past three months. I did see a day of 194.8.

yay!!! I made sure i didn't go over 1200 but not below 1000 calories a day. Walked 45 minutes at lunch and a few times after work and then some days i walked at the track near my house then ran up and down the stairs on the bleachers (that's an awesome workout). Now just need to add in some weigh training and i think ill be good.

My surgeon had to push my 1 year appt back from 9/9 to 9/23 so that gives me a few extra weeks to get closer to 100lb mark. That was my original goal at my one year surgiversary but that only gives me 2.5 lbs to lose 13 lbs..so ill shoot for that with my surgeon.

I hope everyone is doing great. I find that going back to basics just throws me all off. Since this is a life long journey you need to find out what works for you in a normal capacity. Just sometimes finding it might take awhile (three months for me).

Sorry, I completely missed the question about Bari Bootcamp. My surgery center has an option for people who are post-op and struggling with staying on-track. It was intended for patients that are only a couple of months out, but they felt with my struggles it would benefit me. They are still working on making it exactly what they want it to be. I went through the second "class" but I do feel I got things from it.

However, I am really really struggling still. I am still on the sugar...and I am considering doing the liquid diet for a few weeks...anyone have any thoughts on this? I can't decide what else to do...

I cant completely get rid of sugar and carbs. I have been eating a lot of fruit lately which is natural sugars and not bad on the calories, so it helps alot with any sweet cravings.

If doing all liquids will help you get back on track you can try it but you still need to deal with eating normally after the liquids. I dont know about you but Protein Drinks make me nauseas now lol i cant stand them after two months of them.

As a switch you could always try smoothies with greek yogurt and fruit and ice for bfast and lunch and a sensible dinner. Also i do snack once or twice a day. 100 calorie popcorn packs help with carby cravings...fruit....organic all natural fruit strips...raw veggies...those are normal Snacks for me.

You will find what works for you but keep in mind too few cals and our body goes into starvation mode and its not healthy. I am for 1100 cals a day..once or twice a week ill have up to 1300 to switch up my metabolism. I just started this two weeks ago and ive lost 4 lbs after three months of nothing. Also started walking/jogging at the track near my house as well as running on the bleachers about 4 days a week as i work ft and am studying for the lsat.

Dont become completely discouraged as you WILL find what works for you it just might take longer than some. :-)

Been in another long stall. Still at just over 90 lbs lost. Frustrated. But I'm eating right and I exercise, just started up again. I get caught up in work and family that the exercise is the first to go. I must be consistent. That doesn't work. I just need to make it a priority. I don't have to do killer workouts, don't think I even could. Just being consistent is my biggest hurdle. And Water. That has become the bane of my existence. Must drink more. Must drink more. Must drink more. Sigh....

I am in therapy and it is definitely helping with my underlying food issues. However, I am thoroughly re-addicted to sweet tea and sweets in general.

I do need to start bringing my lunch and leaving my credit/debit cards in the truck...LOL. The way our breakroom snack "machines" work is like a market...you pick what you want and either pay with their pre-pay card or a debit/credit card. It is really sad to look at my bank statements...ugh.

On the other hand, I try to bring healthy Snacks to work, but if I bring the whole box, even of 100 calorie snack packs, I eat the WHOLE BOX. So I will need to limit my food - and remind myself that what's in my lunch bag is all I have...otherwise I would eat everything first thing in the morning.

As for sugar, the natural sugar would be okay, I think...it's more the sweet tea I need to get rid of. I guess I'm looking at it as wiping the slate clean again for a fresh base to build on...my nasty bricks have crept back in and I need the strong bricks to build with, not my bad habit ones.

Momofthings, I need to work on my Water intake, too. And you are right, consistency is the key and I have never been good at being consistent with food/water/exercise...

Jenn, thank you for the suggestions, I need to look into the greek yogurt smoothies...with the calories, I always seem to blow right past my goal...before I even think about it...something else I'm working on in therapy.

Thanks ladies! I hope y'all have a great day!

I started drinking unsweetened tea with lemon from dunkins..i put three splenda in a med..or two in a small..theres no cals and it gets me three cups of Water in...the rest i keep a 24oz cup with straw and literally keep it under my chin half my time at work so i drink..lol

That was another issue i have recently started to conqure. Drinking more takes my mind off of food as i still think about it alot im just better at my choices and aaying no...only took me 11 months haha better late then never tho

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
