Lissa 2,631 Posted September 18, 2012 If you're self-pay, most plastic surgeons won't care where you had WLS surgery done. If you have to wait for government approval, there may be some questions about that, but skin removal surgery can definitely be considered a medical problem, rather than a cosmetic one, and where/how you lost the weight shouldn't be an issue. HondaCivicDude 29 Posted September 18, 2012 Thanks for reply, what kind of questions would they have, do u know? Im wondering if anyone specifically went through state insurance for cosmetic surgery and let me know some details that would be awesome and as far as self pay, thats out of the question as i tapped myself out with the surgery. isajck 229 Posted September 20, 2012 For most insurance plans to cover skin removal surgery there needs to be medical need or they will consider it cosmetic. It will be up to your personal physician to document the physical ailments the extra skin causes. Technically this is also something that will not happen right away unless it is serious impeding your good health.
