My doctor has me on 2500 mcg sublingual a week. I could take it however I want (500/day, once a week, whatever). I found some sublingual that is 1200 mcg. How would you take it it? Right now I am doing two days in a row. Would you spread that out? What do you find gives you the best energy? Thanks!

Robyn

I take 1000mcg daily as well. It's sublingual, but I find that I have low energy and foggy brain when I don't take mine religiously.

I also take 1000 mcg every day sublingually. I have heard the it cannot be absorbed because the part of the stomach that was responsible for the pre-op is now gone. There also other places where I am getting B12 such as Multivitamin, some flavored waters and some foods. Good luck.

I diagnosed myself with a B12 deficiency about two weeks ago, I couldn't figure out why I was waking up all shaky and lightheaded, constantly felt like my arms were super heavy and going to fall off, out of breath just sitting, etc. I knew it wasn't my blood sugar, so remembered when I was prengant with my first one 12 years ago how I felt similar. Anemia. I Googled a bit and found that having any WLS that involves removal of part of the stomach or the RNY, bypass, etc, can cause severe B12 deficiency. Plus, I am on heavy antacids which blocks the absorption of B12.

Bingo!

I went to Whole Foods and bought liquid sublingual drops from Vitality Works($9.99). They are raspberry flavored and really tasty. It has 1000mcg of B12, 10 mg B6, and 400mcg Folic Acid. The B12 is Methylcolbalamin which is supposedly a better form for people to absorb over the standard which is in most multi Vitamins and other sublingual tablets. I also bought Solaray brand B12 Gumlets. It looks like a chewable, but turns into a gum. It also has 1000mcg of the B12 in Methyl form. I split them up in the day. So far I feel about 80% better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
