Only 35Lbs Down And Able To Eat Too Much :-(

Recommended Posts

Wow thank u all for ur support and encouragement. I love this site and the people in it :-). I have been trying to get the Protein in but its been tough. I ordered some unflavored so I can start mixing it with everything. I also can't seem to keep Water down... so I crush ice like a snocone and eat it constantly... usually an entire ice cube tray a night. I will keep on it, have a better attitude and come here often.... yes, we will succeed together! Thanks again... all of u!!

If your not able to tolerate Water - I was told this happens and I have the same issue. I put cukes, citrus, a table spoon on cranberry or pomegranate juice in it, drink unsweet teas, and crystal light. I thought there was something wrong with me. My surgeon said it happened sometimes and that it would change over time. I also have intolerance for sickly sweet. I have been drinking the Isopure Protein rtd which I am able to get down easier than the milkshake kind. I tried the unflavored Unjury protein and it smelled so bad i couldn't tolerate it. I'm not sure if it was bad or if it is all like that.

I had my surgery the day before you, lost about the same as you and I feel like

it's a nice amount of weight lost. I stalled for a couple weeks, ate a little more carbs/calories and voila! the scale moved-- but that's controversial and my opinion only.

If you're doing the Protein, Water and whatever else the doctor said to you you can only go down.

^^^ This. Your body may be going into starvation mode if you are not getting enough fuel. Sleeved or not this will happen. I have had to up my intake several times to break a stall a few times.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
