reshiapooh96 31 Posted September 18, 2012 Hey guys, I would like to know where were you all converted with the sleeve? I have a new surgeon and I don't believe that he has a lot of experience with bands. I heard that his main expertise was in doing virgin sleeves. When he told me that my band need to go, I asked him about the sleeve and he said "YES," I can do it. I felt bad about asking him that b/c I knew he wasn't going to say "No I can't". But for some reason I get the feeling that he isn't that comfortable doing band conversions and he has never done one before. Could everyone "Please" let me know how comfortable were you with your Dr. and where is that Dr. located. No matter how far, it would be worth it to me. Squisha 99 Posted September 18, 2012 Dr Yancey, Chesapeake, Virginia. Chesapeake Regional Hospital is a Center of Exclence and Dr. Yancey is the head of the Bariartic Department. I don't know about his conversion rate. But he does offer a payment plan if you are self pay.
Dooter 1,457 Posted September 18, 2012 Dr. David Kim in Dallas Texas. I research lots of surgeons and I just kept going back to him. Center of Excellence also, and his leak rate is .01%, whereas the national average is 1%. I liked that a LOT!! www.drdkim.net
amykins 202 Posted September 18, 2012 My surgeon was Dr Alberto Aceves. He has done over 6,000 WLS procedures including the band. He has done more than 1500 sleeves. I did not have a band revision, but when I was in the hospital, there was a patient who had just had one by him. She looked great.
CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted September 18, 2012 My surgery was done at Pacific Surgical in Edmonds WA. Excellent care, good patient education - no complaints and they are very experienced with both lapbands, sleeves and revisions. What i like the most is their comprehensive followup. If I were self pay I would have gone to Dr Aceves. 1 onceagain2 reacted to this
