Pcos Sleevers. Anyone?

Recommended Posts

Any sleevers that had pcos before surgery? How is your weightloss? I have heard it will be slower than non pcos. I am pre surg. Very curious!!

I have PCOS and I have always said that I am the queen of slow losers. My weight has never come off as quickly as others, not even in the beginning. But, you know what, that is okay because this isn't a race. It is about losing weight and getting healthier at a pace that works for our bodies and is healthy and doable.

When were you sleeved and how much have you lost? I am expecting a slower loss, but as long as it comes off i dont care!

I have PCOS (such an evil thing it is). I feel like my weight loss has been pretty good and steady so far. I had a one week stall the week after surgery, but other than that I have lost 2-5 pounds a week. I have been exercising and really watching my carbs. I feel a lot better now, than before surgery, I feel like my head is clearer and know I am in control. I was always able to loose weight before surgery by limiting carbs and calories, I just couldn't sustain it. Wishing you the very best surgical experience. It is one of the best things I have ever done!!!!

I cannot even imagine losing 70 lbs and keeping it off! Im a bit concerned about adverse and long term effects. Glad to see 3 years out you are doing well. Did you have any post surg complications? Nausuea? Were you on birth control pills around sugery time? I am on them just to regulate period . Due to clotting concerns they want to take me off before and after. Hoping losing weight helps regulate me!

Don't worry after your surgery your periods will be normal and you will be off all the medicines ...I m two years and out and I m not at any medicine for regulating my periods or for my insulin resistance...in fact I got pregnant at my first surgiversary....things are cool but the weight loss is still slower than normal sleevers.

I wouldn't necessarily say don't worry, one cannot predict how others bodies will react to the surgery and weight loss We can only share our personal experience. Surgery and weight loss has not "cured" my PCOS. I still require medication for it and my periods are still very irregular

I am just hoping my body will be baby making friendly. Lol. I think with pcos it will always be a struggle to lose weight. Keeping it off is what i hope happens with the sleeve.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2001 but I knew I had something wrong with me in my teens. I've been sleeved for a bit over three months now. I hit a stall at three to four weeks like everyone else seems to. I had previously loss before the surgery over 50 pounds. I only update my profile once a month on the boards and on my fitness pal but I'm doing better than I have in the previous months. I don't worry about slow or fast weight loss as long as its gone.

I'm a PCOS'er as well.

As mentioned above WLS is NOT a cure for PCOS. I'm so happy with my weightloss (see sig) but still have PCOS issues. Periods are still irregular though more like 3-4 times a year vs. 1-2 times a year. Still have to be really really careful with insulin resistance, etc.

The good news is that this a tool not only to help with weight loss but also with PCOS. I exercise alot more now (just did my first obstacle 5k, and run 3-4 times a week), I'm very carb careful and some of the more annoying PCOS symptoms have tapered off somewhat (less facial hair, less face pigment, etc.)

Good luck!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
