What Is The Portion Size?

Recommended Posts

Guys,

what is the portion size per meal?

I can drink up to 5 oz of liquid ( shake/water/lassi)

OR

I cat eat 4 oz of soup/oatmeal

I am still on the full liquid diet so my Soup and oatmeal the liquid so I can drink it with straw if I am allowed to.

So I wonder if I am eating a ok amount per meal? might be it is too much? I am not loosing weight as fast as others.

and there is one more question:

are you always cold? I always feel cold or freezing even if the temperature in the house 77F. Is that normal? It sound crazy but I am wearing the coat or sweater in the great warm weather.

Cold is very normal. They think that is a hormonal thing due to the surgery. As far as portion size, most people are counting calories so that may be a better gauge as to how much you are eating. 4-5 oz sounds about right, though.

Don't compare your loss to anyone else- there are so many differences in people that you'll just depress yourself- there will always be someone losing faster than you.

Your portion size sounds fine. It's not too much, but it does sound like you have a healthy sleeve and not alot of inflammation...otherwise your portions would be much smaller.

If you don't feel full, it's really not too much at this point. If it's uncomfortable after eating, then scale it back.

As for being cold...doesn't low Iron cause that? Since you're not eating anything, you may need a supplement...I'd take that one up with your NUT or Doc.

I am going to the doctor tomorrow and going to ask. about calories intake. Look like I am eating around 600-650 cal per day. Is that a lot?

I think 440 out their my Protein Shakes. and another 200 oatmeal and cream Soup.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
