Co-Workers Talking About Me!

Recommended Posts

Sounds like the green-eyed monster for sure. I would confront her about it personally. I would say something like "I am happy that you notice my weight loss, I am feeling great. I have heard that you've been telling the office that I had my stomach stapled though, and I wanted to let you know that I don't appreciate it. If you would like to talk and get the facts straight, I'm happy to, but in the mean time I'd appreciate if you would refer people to me with questions about my weight."

Maybe that sounds snarky - but my coworkers gossip like crazy and it drives me nuts.

Let them talk, yes, it's a bit embarrassing to admit that I got fat and didn't have the willpower to fix it myself. Therefore I had to seek assistance.

What would be even more embarrassing is to be fat, lack willpower on top of that too prideful or ignorant to do anything about it.

I'm sorry you're having to go through that. I work all women (nurses), and yes, unfortunately, we gossip.

Unfortunately some people are going to talk about you, it's just what they do. If it wasn't this it be something else. It's sad that they are that dissatisfied with themselves that they fill the need to run their mouths about others. You are strong & on a way to a healthier you so let them talk. I've told people before it's ok if you talk about me cause at least I know your discussing an interesting topic.

I read most of the responses:

I wouldn't indulge in conversation about my weightloss whether it came from me or not. Patient & doctor confidentiality is all I need. Whether FMLA or insurance claim form states the procedure(s) or not, where is the moral decency from HR if this is how information was leaked.

As for the sake of talkers----------LET THEM. While 'Susie' is huddling and whispering in the corner to co-workers I hope they have enough room to listen to her jealous words. Keep doing what you for you.

I have this same issue. And trust, it does not bother me one bit. It makes me stronger. Even more, I don't speak to these persons anyway; but glad I'm thought of. Boyyyy!!! I can't wait to go back to work in December from having the panniculectomy. I see swollen tongues and ears already, lololol. Will keep you posted.

Good losing to you all

Krys

It's cheap gossip. Leave it alone and someone else will be the latest subject within 24 hours. Make a fuss and you stay on the front page. The workplace is the worst place ever for this kind of stuff. Just be beautiful and continue to be the source of their envy, not their scorn. Bets of luck.

Sue, you just go on and keep doing what you're doing for you. Never mind anyone else. In a few months that fat gossiping co-worker of yours is going to be coming to the thin & sexy new you asking for advice and info for herself (....and probably will ask you "not to tell anyone")

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
