tra0322 20 Posted September 17, 2012 I had my sleeve surgery on 9/13, and was able to start full liquids yesterday. I've noticed that anytime I have something with milk, I get severe gas pains. The only time it hasn't happened is with cream of wheat and Clear Liquids. However, Protein Shakes made with milk, creamed Soups, sugar free pudding give me gas pains almost instantly. Thoughts? Experiences?
traceyc 89 Posted September 17, 2012 Developing lactose intolerance after surgery is common, it could be that. Try a lactose free milk, soy milk, almond milk, etc and see if that helps.
tra0322 20 Posted September 17, 2012 Thanks! I will try almond, since I like that already!
tra0322 20 Posted September 19, 2012 I used lactaid today in a Protein Shake. Same taste and no issues. I definitely think it was the dairy giving me problems. Hopefully the doc will give me more insight tomorrow during my 1 week follow up.
