SexySlim 107 Posted September 17, 2012 Slim Fast is low in Protein. I heard there is a high protein version of Slim Fast available. Since I actually like the taste of Slim Fast, sometimes I use the powder dissolved in milk then add 1/2 a scoop of unflavored whey protein to it and it brings to total to 26 grams. I still get the good taste and you can't tell the unflavored whey is in it.
southernchic01 18 Posted September 17, 2012 Due to the sugar content, my nutritionist advised not to drink these after surgery.
suegirl 109 Posted September 17, 2012 My doctor said no due to the sugar content... I tried them when dieting, pre surgery and YUCK... they left a twangy, metallic taste and I couldn't deal with the reflux they caused... Unjury actually makes a medical grade Protein that is less expensive and can be mixed with Water or milk... and it tastes good LOL... www.unjury.com

soccermomx2 111 Posted September 19, 2012 My NUT says the carbs are too much for Slimfast. She has me follow the 5g rule...no more than 5g of carbs for a Protein Shake. The Premier Protein has 30g of Protein and 5g of carbs for 11oz. I actually prefer it to the slimfast shakes I have had in the past and it keeps you full longer. Baby Beluga 10 Posted September 21, 2012 I know of a great shake that has only one net carb and a lot of Protein. Tastes great and like two grams of sugar that won't impact your glucose for anyone who may have been diabetic pre surgery. It's called the Atkins Protein shakes. They taste great with no after taste and you can use as a snack or Meal Replacement ... I'm not sleeved yet but I been researching and preparing. Try it, you'll like it...its only 5.68 for six in a case and you can find it at local Wal-Mart or GNC, Vitamin Shoppe etc. What I love is that it won't impact my sugars... Let me know if you get them. Sent from my htc evo 3D using VST 1 mae reacted to this
puppyphat 397 Posted September 21, 2012 Thats so cheap for the Atkins shakes. In Australia they are $4 each or you can get them 3 for $9 when they are on special. I don't know about the states, but here, the powders are far more economical.

I am American but I lived in Alice Springs,NT from 2007-2010 and my grocery bills for my family went from $125-150 per weekfor a family of 5 to 300$+ per week in Australia produce is about the only thing that wasn't more expensive there. I worked in the evenings at Coles for extra money. A good example is today at Coles in Australia a 6 pack of Coca Cola cans is 9.99$ but here in the USA I could find a 12 pack of Coca Cola cans for $5. I was sleeved 9/12 & still drink them now - a lil harder to get down but this morning had one & it went down pretty good... When I add this powder, it clumps - never fully dissolves and I can't get it down! What's the secret? Sent from my iPad using VST

I tried it in yogurt and yes it does clump. Makes me not want to eat it! But in a shake you can't tell it's in there. I blend mine with my magic bullet. When I blend the milk chocolate flavor with milk and crushed ice I swear it tastes like a frosty from Wendy's! Btw I use the GNC brand unflavored whey Protein.< /p>
