To this day I remember waking up out of surgery and being in pain. I fear with the sleeve that I will have twice the pain.

Can someone please give me the truth for what I am in for?

For me there was NO real pain, just a lot of bloating and nausea, which took about 2 months to get totally over. I've had ingrown toenails that were MUCH more painful then the VSG. JMHO.

Are you asking about the band removal? I saw the tag. I had a revision on the 10th and there is no real pain more discomfort. I have swelling and the pain where they removed the port, lots of trauma to my fat and skin I guess. No worries you will do fine.

I am10 days out, I woke up in recovery- hurt so bad I couldn't breath !!! Since that point they got in undercontrol--- I've not had any nausea, pain, or gas. I took Tramadol for discomfort ssince I'm allergic to lortab and codeine. I have not had any pain since that day !!

i'm in the same boat as you are! i need my band removed and want a revision. i didn't have any gas pain after the lapband surgery and i'm more scared of THAT pain than the incisions! i did hear that there is a little more pain with the revision because of the scarring on the stomach and around the port area when they remove them.

I couldn't agree more. NO pain- discomfort. Nausea was the worst for me and the bloating was second.

Nasea was a problem but they hit me with all the drugs and had it under control pretty quickly.

I was sore after the band removal - port area mostly.

Recovering after the sleeve wasn't so much pain - although i did sleep in the recliner at first because my abs were on fire when I used them for getting up - I struggled more with the exhaustion, dehydration etc. I really didn't experience pain when I was just sitting, standing or walking. Visualize abs after 1000 situps, no problems until you do another move that uses those muscles!

So, in summary, for me, the actual "surgical" recovery was pretty comparable to the banding surgery. The sleeve was a longer/harder recovery due to dehydration and exhaustion that for me lasted weeks.

It is all worth it though!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
