Surgery Set For The 20Th ....nervous Wreck!

Recommended Posts

I remember asking the nurse in the room whether they spoke English ( surgery was in Mexico) when he said yes I said please make sure I wake back up. I woke up with hardly any pain and no complications. I am 6 weeks out now and doing great!

OMG! Me too! I just welled up over a car commercial! :-p I am scheduled for next Tuesday also - I don't know how I will handle this next week and my rollercoasting emotions! Is it the low carbs or is estrogen already seeping out of my cells? I wish I could spend this next week in bed with the covers pulled up. Lol.

OMG! That's exactly what I want to do. LOL. I'm almost at the point where I just want it done with.

I'm scheduled for Saturday. Also bundle of nerves but not about the pain. More about what if this doesn't work like the LAPBand. Totally unrational since there is so much proof on this board alone that it works. Stress sure does a number on your ability to reason!

I'm in the same boat as you. I had the band and am now getting the sleeve. I worry it won't work but all the positive feedback ont he forum has helped. I'm nervous as all can be for tomorrow but know that this is the right step.

Well I'm a little better...for now...that I just had my last appointment with my surgeon. He is so amazingly calming that I am more at ease now than before the appointment.

Good luck to those that are going tomorrow B)

I want to hear about how it went from all the people who went today. I wonder if anyone is ever really at peace before they go in. I think anxiety is just going to be a part of it. I want to hear from anyone that was 100% comfortable.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
