jiji 3 Posted September 17, 2012 I had my surgery 4 days ago. Day 1 (Thursday) was horrible, so I am just going to skip over thinking about that! Day 2 (Friday) was quite a bit better, I was up walking around by myself, feeling pretty good. Day 3 (Saturday)I felt fantastic, I was released from the hospital, did a lot of walking, was able to sip okay. Day 4 (Sunday) I felt okay, maybe not quite as good as day 3, but hey, I didn't have any iv fluids to help hydration, so I figured all in all it was pretty good. DAY 5 (Today) Ugg. I didn't hardly sleep at all last night, even it was my first night back in my own bed. I woke up at 2:30am with all sorts of pain. my heart was beating fast, I was sweaty and shakey, and nauseated. I drank a little Isopure (first Protein Drink i've had per surgery) and felt a little better, but when I tried to go back to bed I felt horrible again. Finally around 5:30am I fell asleep for about an hour in our recliner until my kids got up for school at 6:30. Have any of you experienced this, going from feeling pretty good, to feeling pretty bad? I take 2 nexium before bed for heartburn, I've been really good about gas-x, and I'm on an antibiotic. I just think it's strange that it's getting worse...is it?? SleeveShelly 75 Posted September 17, 2012 Did they do a leak test on your sleeve?
Ms skinniness 3,003 Posted September 17, 2012 It might help to sleep at an incline. At least it did me for a while. Are you taking a PPI? Meaning nexium, omeprazole, tums? It will get better from here on out. Take a lot of sips and walk, walk, walk,.

I haven't been able to take them this morning because I feel like I am going to throw up when I even think about swallowing anything. I hope it gets better from here, I just think it's strange that it got better, than worse...
LessofKelly 62 Posted September 17, 2012 I was sleeved Tuesday. My release paperwork said if there was a feeling of increased warmth, new or increased pain or any temp over 100 to call the surgeons office. Have you called the doctor yet? It may be nothing but surgery soreness (I was achier than usual this Morning as well) but just to be safe I'd call them
NCsleever63 53 Posted September 17, 2012 Do you have a fever? are you short of breath? You should probably call your surgeon. You need to let them know, the last thing you need is to have a blood clot or a leak issue.
jiji 3 Posted September 17, 2012 Thanks everyone. I was able to get an anti-nausea pill down and now I can tell without the nausea overwhelming it that my stomach pains feel pretty mild. My husband looked up the pain meds he gave me (my husband is a doctor) and said they were the harshest for the stomach and that is probably why I was in pain, I hadn't really taken them before last night. So, hopefully I'll stop taking them and all will be better. Now, back to trying to learn how to sip, sip, sip when everything hurts a little going down, and nothing sounds good. JLOR 47 Posted September 17, 2012 The pain meds made me extremely sick and once I stopped taking them I was sooooo much better.
JerzyGirl 25 Posted September 17, 2012 I can tell you that day 5 for me was the worst. I felt great when I initially came home from the hospital then pretty awful within a few days with pain, discomfort and sleeplessness. I was able to sleep in my recliner, but definitely not in my bed. It only lasted about 2 days thank goodness, then I was back to feeling pretty good. Hope you're feeling better soon! jiji 3 Posted September 17, 2012 Thanks JerzyGirl, I am so hopeful that my experience is the same as yours. I am feeling better since I stopped the pain meds, but just keep thinking how much easier this would be if I could have an IV until my tummy heals! Sipping isn't too fun. But I'm sure in a few weeks I'll be smiling more!
