Exhausted! Not Sure A Week Is Enough Out Of Work

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I was sleeved on Tuesday the 11th and I'm doing well, drinking Protein and lots of liquids - still trying to space things out some. My question is is being this exhausted normal? I went to the store to day gone maybe an hour and I could barely open the car door when we got home. Yesterday it was the same. I had only planned on taking a week out of work and going back on Wednesday the 19th, I just don't see how that possible.

I don't know what you do for a living but I was sleeved on the 4th and I am taking another week off. I have a very labor intensive job and I know that I am too tired to go back. I think everyone is different. If it takes you longer than your body is telling you that you need time. If you have the time, I say take it! Good Luck to you! Looking forward to pureed food on Tuesday!

I was pooped post-op! And I was good to drink my Water, get my Protein, sleep, walk, and take my Vitamins. I agree that everyone heals differently. Take more time off if at all possible.

Being tired, exhausted may be a sign you are a bit dehydrated. Like a wilting flower, if you give yourself more Water you will likely perk up.

I disagree it is MORE likely because our bodies are not taking in hardly any nutrients. Wait to you have your surgery...................you will see.

I'm sure that is PART of it' date=' but my Nursing degree and 33 years of experience, professional and personal tells me dehydration can knock you on your rump.

I am currently on a pre-op diet that severely restricts calories. i felt tired but not exhausted and now, I feel even more energetic. Fluids is the key.

Thank you all. I work in a hotel (front desk and sales) I had planned on half days this week but....my boss left and now thats not really an option. I'm calling my Dr. and having them keep me out a bit longer. My surgeon had wanted me out 4 weeks to start with and I said no. I don't want to use my vacation time, not sure if TDI will make me or if I can hold it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
