Does The Sweating Stop?

Recommended Posts

I haven't had surgery yet, but it is all I think about!! I find myself always wondering what changes (besides weight) will happen post op. I find that I am ALWAYS hot and sweaty (especially in the face)...I am hoping with the weightloss, sweatloss will come hand in hand. Pleeeeeaaasssee someone say yes! Lol

I have always been sweaty, even when I was younger and much thinner. I have noticed I am much cooler a couple of months after surgery. I still sweat quite a bit when I work out, but not as much as before in "normal" situations.

Two weeks ago I was waiting for my leak test and i was freezing!! (i was fully dressed.). When the surgeon came in he chuckled. He pointed out that in June i was in the same room when I first met him. Now, 30 some pounds lighter, i didnt have as much 'insulation.' He was right!! And I rememeber sitting there with my husband that first day and worrying if i'd have to get undressed because I was all sweaty. (i didn't).

So yeah, i DO think the sweating is much better.

I love and Thank you for this Hope!! I am sure my husband will be just as thankful because if it were up to me our AC at home would never go above 68! We live in FLa. So imagine what our monthly electricity bill is!!

LOL!!! That's what my hubby keeps saying. We are in Texas and i told him that next year our bill should be lower. We have an a/c system where it is divided by sections and i DO keep my office & work room (i work w dogs with behavioral issues) at 68 degress! I can't STAND sweating around clients unless we are working outside. It's so embaressing.

My favorite part of the sleeve is the lack of sweating. I can now tolerate the south Florida heat. Never have the air in my car above low and my house stays at 75 degrees and I have to wear socks every night to sleep. I think it's more than just weightloss though. The part of your stomach that gets taken out has something to do with regulating body temperature. Either way.. definitely a plus side to surgery!

I am always cold now! I wear a jacket constantly - this is awesome for me as always being hot before! Best of luck to your body temperature!

I was the person that sweated all year long, my husband and I fought every day over the air conditioner in the car, in the house, in our Sunday school class, etc. my hair was always wet, no matter what the temp was outside, I live in Mississippi and you know we invented humidity! I am now 3 months post op and I'm down 73 lbs and I have been freezing from about one week after my surgery. I now sit around my house in sweat pants, fuzzy slippers, long sleeved shirt with a hoodie over it and a blanket on my legs! My family still can't believe it's really me doing that cause they have only seen me sweat and complain about the heat forever. I love it! I will take being cold any day over sweating like a dog!

I find that after I take my Vitamins in the AM, I start sweating profusely. My doctor says that I'm finally burning fat and that's why I'm sweating more. I'll take that as an excuse!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
