Birthday Meal Ideas?

Recommended Posts

Every Saturday we have dinner at my in-laws. Every time somebody has a birthday my father-in-law will make whatever you want for dinner and dessert, and that is what everyone will eat.

My birthday is in a few weeks, and normally I have my menu planned out a year in advance, but this year I am struggling.

I really don't know what to request for my meal, or my birthday dessert. I want to request something that I can enjoy as well as everyone else, but don't want to sacrifice my sleeve for their happiness either.

Any ideas? Menu suggestions?

Depends on how far out u are. Suggest a high Protein focused meal (roast chicken? Turkey? Steak or seafood/fish?) the guests can eat all the fixins such as garlic break but depending on how far out u are u should stay conscious. Maybe u can offer to bring the dessert? So many different recipes on here for no bake cheese cakes etc. do ur in laws knows uve had vsg?

You can make some kind of mini pavlovas with berries and light cream and passion fruit sauce/ sf Jello... They always look so celebrationy with the fresh fruit and towers of whip... (sorry I'm an Aussie so biased to pavs as a bday treat)

And yeah I agree with the roast idea, or BBQ, with some nice cuts of meat and lots of variety of salad- or tapas thingy... I think you will feel less deprived if its more of a French/Italian/spanish buffet- where you can eat slowly and enjoy the conversation!

If you make it a BBQ picnic you could get some fun games/exercise in too :)

How about a seafood feast... Shrimp cocktail, scallops n bacon, crab legs, steak and lobster... Pick what you like or BBQ steaks or bacon wrapped chicken breasts with roast veggies and Cesar salad? Dessert have berries, cake and cream or grk yogurt?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
