Anyone Else In The 350+ Pre-Op Weight Range?

Recommended Posts

I weighted 397 when I finally got approved for surgery. I lost 30 pounds pre-op eating two shakes, some lite yogurt, and a McDonald’s southwest grilled chicken salad a day. I had my surgery on 6/12/12. It has now been just over three months and I have lost an additional 56 pounds - so 86 in all.

I had various goals that meant a lot to me over the past three months. One was getting under 350. One was getting under 340 which is what I weighed when my mom died 19 years ago. Then it was getting under 320. Now it's getting to 307 which will mean 90 pounds lost.

My other goals have revolved around movement. When I started this process I had to illegally park in the visitor parking at work each day. I simply could not walk from the parking lot - and could barely walk from the close-up visitor spots. I now park as far out in the parking lot as possible and even walk around the parameter of the very large parking lot several days per week at lunch. This has been HUGE for me.

I cannot really see much difference in my body yet. 311 is still a very heavy body. But I can sit in a booth now. I have moved my car seat up several times. I no longer need my seatbelt extender. I can sit in outdoor plastic chairs with arms. My clothes are falling off me. My rings are too big. My bangle bracelets fit again. And my feet don't hurt nearly as much as they used to.

I think I am craving some connections with people who are over 350+ because so many of the stories I read here are about people who weigh so much less. I realize we are all on the same journey - but those of us in the "super morbidly obese" category have a much longer road ahead - and I for one want to walk that road with some of you who know just what I'm facing.

I'd like to hear your stories - support you - cry and laugh with you - and seriously do this journey together!!!

Hi! I started at 349. Sleeved in February, and now down to 258 as of today! 91 pounds, and very thrilled at how life has changed. I've often worried that I will never really get as low as I want to, but I think it's all me. I don't think the sleeve limits us as much as the statistics will say. I think our mind and body can accomplish more than they ever thought possible.... If I want to see bones poking out through my rib cage, I think I can do that!!

I am always excited to see other people in here that were close to my weight on this site.

I was 420 at my heaviest and at the beginning of the year I was 412. Right now I am sitting at right around 345. I am so excited to see where I will be one year out, and I wish everyone on here the best in their weight loss journey.

My name is Tierainie and at my heaviest back in February I weighed in at 426 and could not believe it. I knew right then and there I had to do something to get that weight off me. Thru diet and excercise I'm proud to say Im down to 386. A loss of almost 50 pounds! I've noticed that I can wear clothes in my closest I couldn't have worn in years. I've received my approval letter and surgey is scheduled for October 1 or 5 depends on if I have my all of my hospital deposit or not. Im hoping to get to 370 by surgey day. So I'm right here with you and I support you in every way as we share a lot of the same struggles and victories. Best wishes and I look forward to hearing more happy moments from you.

xoxo

I weighed 431 the day of surgery...which was June 15th. I am now at 361! Whoo hoo! I have a lot of worries about sleeve size and stretching, etc....but I know that if I keep up the Protein & liquids, and keep the calories to around 800, I can't help but keep losing.

I'm with you!

You guys are SO encouraging me - and hopefully one another!!!

I thougt I hit 100 pounds down three days ago - and then my weight went up 4 pounds. Back and forth. Back and forth. As long as the trajectory is down, I am happy. Watching my body retain Water, do its little ups and downs has been helping me get to know my body better. I avoided scales for so. so long! I had no idea how much I weighed - except when I'd venture into WW once a year when they had free sign-ups. And I'd always be "so surprised" when it was higher than it was the last time! NOT! Denial is not our friend, and so I am determined to keep talkin about my weight, my size, my fears, my food, my excersize, my Protein, etc. I can't do this alone. I don't want to do it alone. Please message or email me if you ever want additional support or ideas or prayer and a mutual kick in the butt!!!!!

I am so PROUD OF US!!!!!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
