We used to have a Cotton Ginny but they closed. I now have to go to Ottawa if I want to shop there so when I'm there I usually buy a lot. Something about the comfort of cotton....

I was never "allowed" to have sweat pants, or really any elastic waisted pants, because my mom said that I'd get too comfortable in them, and gain weight without noticing. :)

I finally bought my first pair of sweat pants when I was about 20. HA!

Your mother has a point. I like to wear baggy clothes especially in the summer. My weight kept creeping up on me and then when I would try to put my jeans on...well, I couldn't.

Yah, tight pants wouldn't have stopped me from gaining weight but they would have made me hot and cranky!

Mandi, your mother sounds a little controlling...no cheeze, no sweat pants.....

Yea, but they probably had to take EXTRA precautions with a daughter like Mandi!!

Yes... I imagine all hell would have broken loose if I'd been allowed cheese AND sweatpants! Not that we weren't allowed cheese, we just never had/bought blocks of it. ?

Hell, I didn't even LIKE cheese until I was in my early 30s!!! I couldn't even stand the smell of it!! The only "cheese" I ate before that was cheez whiz and cheese slices (you know, like Kraft slices). Needless to say, I didn't eat pizza until my 30s (cheese and all). I would periodically try cheese now and again...wishing I'd like it....but didn't. Then my tastes changed and now I do like cheese (though not strong cheese)!! Go figure.

I know many people who would tend to agree with you!!!

But I'm okay with that.

Today I put on a pair of old jeans, size 16W, from Cotton Ginny and I didn't even have to lie down to force the zipper up! And I don't feel like all blood flow is being cut off to the lower part of my body!! Yippee! I'm thinner than I was last Christmas and way thinner than I was before the operation. Green is in a good mood today.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
