Hello!

There are lots of "max power" "muscle build" type Protein powders but they all seem to be targetted for male body builders and are mostly 100% whey based which I think is again ideal for intake immediately after exercise. I just worried about buying too calorific a Protein Powder. Some are high Protein and also have higher amounts of sugars and carbs.... I just want to find good quality protein that cones recomended post sleeve surgery. I tried to google "unjury" which lots of people have referred to on the main pages but its not available here in UK.... Any suggestions ?

I bought me the Impact Whey Protein in Raspberry flavor from Myprotein.com. There are plenty of protein powders available, and that is super confusing. Impact is low carb (1.5g) and low fat, protein is about 20g in a serving and comes in 20 flavors. Beware of the products that are being marketed as weight loss supplement, sometimes they are very high on carb!! Like the Sculptress from Maxitone, with 24g carb can be hardly considered low carb yet they are selling as a weight loss Protein shake. Hehehe I know i could never lose a gram on that shake!

I am not sleeved yet, I'm trying to lose weight with dieting for now.

Good luck finding the right protein powder!:)

Hiya

I was sleeved on the 4th October- 2 wks tmz!

I've lost 17.5lbs since pre op and 26.5lbs down from heaviest weight!

Feeling good about that. Only problem is exhaustion- it's hard to get in enough Protein and struggling with low carb intake.

Just want to fast forward this bit and get on to eating food again- liquid phase is pants.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
