SleeveDreamer 383 Posted September 15, 2012 I had my sleeve on 12/14/11 when I was almost 61 1/2. My bd was in June nd I turned 62. I am no longer on any medication and feel better than I have for years. I went from a size 18 to 4 jeans. You are never too old to be healthy. I hope people who really need this done, will realize that age is not an issue. I only had 55 lbs. to lose but it was all in my abdomen headed for my heart and in a very dangerous place. Who knows what would have happened had I not had this surgery. I also had some repair done to my esophagus at the same time from some damage from some reflux surgery I had in 1999. I feel my VSG surgeon saved my life. I never had any pain or complications, never was nauseous, and never had Hair loss. i am truly blessed to have been able to have this done. Good luck to anyone over 60 who is thinking about having this done. No regrets here. LOVE my sleeve! 7 mom2five, enigmachik, Joisey01 and 4 others reacted to this
Fun size 62 Posted September 16, 2012 Thank you so much for this post. I am 61 and will be nearly 61 1/2 when I have my sleeve in November. The sleevers in my support group tell me it will be easy for me. I've had two C-sections, breast cancer and a hysterectomy. I have 100 lbs to lose. Aside from the usual reasons for losing weight (health, feeling better), my retirement has led me down a few paths with a media following. Thus far, I have been dodging the camera, but the spring has some television and newspaper events that I won't be able to dodge. I am the director of a nonprofit that will open the first dog park in our area, In addition, I belong to a philanthropic group that supports womens' charities in third countries. There will be a documentary (for our organization) made about the trip I will take in the spring to some Indoniasian countries to observe first hand the progress of our charities. If I had to present myself to the public as I look today, I wonder if I'd be so involved. 2 Joisey01 and enigmachik reacted to this
