Cramps?

Recommended Posts

I'm on week 2 and "creamy" liquids.... Problem is I can't seem to tolerate any sort of creamy soup..? Any other suggestions of something to eat at this point? I can take pudding no problem and even watery oatmeal (dr ok'd that) but no potato or broccoli or any type of cream soup- it makes my stomach cramp sooo bad, like I swallowed razors or something (sorry, I know thats harsh, but the pains suck!) my dr wants me on soft food next week and I just don't see it happening.... Any ideas?

Just go with what you're tummy will tolerate. You're still swollen. It took me quite a while to tolerate some things I was OK'd for. Try those things next week. It may be tolerated then. Don't worry about it!!! Get you're fluids and Proteins in. Can you tolerate greek yougurt or any light yougurts without fruits added?

A lot of folks have issues with milk products early out. You may be one of them. Just try non-cream based things for awhile.

I pureed ham and lentil Soup. Also, chicken veggie.

It worked for me.

Yep all yogurts and puddings are fine, pretty much anything cold is okay, I may try to purée some chicken based soups-- thanks for the idea :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
