I'm just curious about the actual physiological reason for chronic nausea weeks after the surgery. I've already stocked up on Prilosec since I am very prone to nausea and have read many posts here that it works wonders. Since Prilosec works I'm guessing it stomach acid that causes the nausea. But why is the new stomach producing so much acid if you are following the correct diet during the healing period? Again, just curious. I'm an information junkie.... :)

Your brain doesn't know the size of your stomach so it still produces as much acid as it was before. That is why we are told to take an antacid daily to prevent ulcers and heartburn. I had nausea every day for the first month and it finally died down. 7 weeks out and I feel fine now, the only time I get nauseous is when I take that extra bite and even then it doesn't last long. I took extra strength tums on top of the pepcid and it helped a lot.
